November 27
Happy Thanksgiving! Before you get overwhelmed by the chaos of the day, take 90 seconds to remember what matters most.
Three Thoughts
When we start counting our blessings instead of our problems, something shifts in the atmosphere. It's not to ignore the hard stuff, but instead, choosing to see God's faithfulness in the middle of it. And that perspective changes everything. Today, before the turkey and the football, pause and thank God for what He's done.
1 THESSALONIANS 5:18
We didn't earn God's love. And we'll never run out of God's love. That's the foundation of all gratitude. Every good thing in our life flows from God. So when we thank Him today, start with His love. Everything else is overflow.
JAMES 1:17
Thankfulness isn't about pretending life is perfect. It's about acknowledging that even in the mess, God is still good. Even when the year was hard. Even when the table feels empty. Even when we aren't where we thought we'd be. We can still say, "Thank you, Lord, for being with me through it all."
PSALM 107:1
Two Quotes
Author Paul David Tripp on where we find our satisfaction in life:
"We weren't created to find our satisfaction in the little, earthbound kingdom treasures of the here and now. We were created to seek a better treasure, and in so doing to be eternally grateful and satisfied."
Evangelist Billy Graham on a heart attuned to the Lord:
"A spirit of thankfulness is one of the most distinctive marks of a Christian whose heart is attuned to the Lord. Thank God in the midst of trials and every persecution."
Prayer
Dear God, today I want to say thank You. Thank You for the big things and the small things. Thank You for what I can see and what I can't. Thank You for being faithful even when I wasn't. Thank You for loving me when I didn't deserve it. Help me carry this gratitude into today, tomorrow and every day after. In Jesus' name, amen.
Question
If you could only thank God for three things today, what would they be? And why did those three things come to mind first?
See you next Thursday,
Zach
P.S. I'm making this famous mac and cheese today, and I'm already grateful for that alone. Hope your day is filled with good food, good people, and a good God who never stops giving.
