Real transformation begins with your thinking, then it moves to your behavior.
Three Thoughts
You change your life by thinking differently about your desires, and from there your actions follow. "Trying harder" isn't good encouragement if the mindset isn't right. Real renewal happens when you stop letting culture shape your mind and start letting God's truth rewrite it instead. Transformation begins in your thoughts.
ROMANS 12:2
Your spirit was made new the moment you came to Christ. But your mind? That's a daily process. Every morning you get to choose which voice you listen to first. I recommend letting God remind you who you really are, instead of what your past mistakes say.
EPHESIANS 4:23
God is making you new, one thought at a time. The closer you draw to him, the more you start seeing yourself, and others, the way he does. Being made in his image is the slow and steady work of becoming who you already are in Christ.
COLOSSIANS 3:10
Two Quotes
Preacher and Philosopher Jonathan Edwards on religion:
"True religion, in great part, consists in holy affections."
Evangelist and Theologian Watchman Nee on our current standing:
"Our old history ends with the cross; our new history begins with the resurrection."
Prayer
Dear Lord, I ask that you would renew my mind today. I can't stop thinking about things that you never intended me to worry about, so I ask you to replace the lies with your truth. Reshape the patterns I can't break on my own. Teach me to think like your child. In Jesus' name, amen.
Question
What's one thought you keep believing that God's Word says isn't true about you?
See you next Thursday,
Zach
P.S. A few weeks ago I told you about the custom Bible that I made, and now I want to tell you about this beautiful journal I'm using to write prayers in. It's over 1000 pages so it's going to last a while. Humble Lamb Journal
