A beautiful thing about the Spirit living inside of us is that when we don't have the right words, he prays on our behalf.

Three Thoughts

If you're anything like me, some days you don't know what to pray. It's almost like you're too deep in the weeds to form sentences. But that's exactly when the Spirit steps in. He prays for you with groans that words can't capture. You don't have to have it all figured out, you just need to show up and let the Spirit do the rest.

ROMANS 8:26

When you hear people talk about "praying in the Spirit" it doesn't mean something that's reserved for super-Christians. It means praying with awareness that God is with you, guiding your words, shaping you to be more like Jesus. Every time you pray with honesty, the Spirit is in it alongside you.

EPHESIANS 6:18

Want to grow stronger in faith? Pray in the Holy Spirit. Prayer is meant to build you up and connect you to God. The more you pray, the more you'll realize how much you were made for it.

JUDE 1:20

Two Quotes

Writer and teacher Andrew Murray on communicating with God:

"Prayer is not monologue, but dialogue; God's voice is its most essential part."

Evangelist Oswald Chambers on prayer:

"Prayer does not fit us for the greater work; prayer is the greater work."

Prayer

Holy Spirit, I thank you for praying on my behalf when I don't have the words. Thank you for not leaving me to figure it out alone. Teach me your will, help me hear your voice, I want my heart to be moved in the same way yours is. Pray through me today. Amen.

Question

When was the last time you sat quietly in prayer, not trying to say the right thing, but simply letting the Spirit lead?

See you next Thursday,
