The Christian life is more like a marathon than it is a sprint. Slow steps in the same direction will always be better than starting and stopping a bunch of times.
Three Thoughts
You are surrounded by a cloud of witnesses. Every saint that has gone before you is cheering you on. So we need to learn to lay down everything that is holding us back. Don't quit when things get hard. The race is about endurance. One step at a time.
HEBREWS 12:1
Sometimes doing good can be exhausting because people will disappoint you or the results we expect to happen don't actually show up. But Paul says not to grow weary. The harvest is coming. Just because we don't see the fruit right now doesn't mean it isn't growing. Don't give up.
GALATIANS 6:9
The crown is given to those who stayed the course even when the path was full of struggles. What I know for certain is that God didn't forget about you. When we experience trials, we need to remain steadfast, focused on him.
JAMES 1:12
Two Quotes
Teacher and author Christine Caine on your race:
"There's a grace and a pace for your race."
Teacher and author Lysa TerKeurst on dealing with hard times:
"On the other side of every hardship is a resurrection."
Prayer
Lord, I'm tired. I ask that you would remind me I'm not running this race of life alone. Help me let go of everything that is holding me down and distracting me from keeping my eyes on you. Give me endurance during this season. Help me to stand the tests that come my way. Amen.
Question
What's the one thing that's been slowing you down lately? Are you willing to lay it down today?
See you next Thursday,
Zach
