April 2
The Bible isn't just an old book that we can pull some wisdom from now and again. No, it's living and breathing and moving and it's still speaking to us today.

Three Thoughts
The thing about the Bible, compared to other books, is that it's alive. It sees through your excuses, reaches past your end, and gets to the real you. That's the greatest gift. God's Word exposes us to heal us, we just need need to let it do it's work.
HEBREWS 4:12
Every word of Scripture is breathed out by God. It isn't inspired in the same way that the sunset inspires a poem or a art is inspiring. When you read the Bible, you aren't reading someone's opinions, you're hearing from the Creator of the universe. That's a beautiful thing.
2 TIMOTHY 3:16
When God speaks, things happen. We learn that His Word doesn't return empty or void. It goes out with a mission and it gets the job done every single time. That should change the way you read the Bible. You're encountering a Word that accomplishes what God sends it to do.
ISAIAH 55:11
Two Quotes
Theologian J.I. Packer on Scripture as a lifeline:
"The Scriptures are the lifeline God throws us in order to ensure he and we stay connected while the rescue is in process."
Pastor and theologian John Stott on the Bible changing us:
"We must allow the Word of God to confront us, to disturb our security, to undermine our complacency and to overthrow our patterns of thought and behavior."
Prayer
God, thank You that Your Word is alive and active. It's powerful and it's still speaking to me right now. Open my heart to hear what You're saying every time I open it. Don't let me read the Bible out of obligation, but that I come expecting to meet You. Amen.
Question
When was the last time a Bible verse stopped you in your tracks because it felt like God was speaking directly to you?
See you next Thursday,
